Life Drawing 3
This week we started in charcoals again, and again did 3, 3 minute quick sketches to warm up. We then moved on to a group picture which was interesting. We each got 3 minutes to work on the piece then would all move around to the right and carry on from where the previous person had left off. We did this in total about 5 times I think. The first image on the left is that picture. This was the one I started, so I only had time for the rough outline and main lines and gradually everyone else filled it in. I do find it interesting how the perspective is kind of wonky because of the different standing positions or heights of the different people. I maybe would have found it more interesting if we did the same exercise but with a fixed perspective, like a photo that everyone copies from to see how people perceive the exact same image.
The second image we had moved onto pencils and were told to draw a larger, picture for a long period of time, maybe 15 minutes. I prefer working in pencil but it takes a long time to fill in the lines and here you see I had barely started let alone finished.
The final image is a 'scratchy' style where we were told to scribble, and instead of starting with the outside lines we were to draw from the inside out, thinking more about light and dark. I think my attempt went alright, but I think I still fell into the trap of scratching in the outer lines far too often. So instead of a scribble like drawing it looks more like the model was hairy.
